Here is the recipe for one of my all time favorite snacks - kale chips!
- Garlic salt
- Black pepper
- Olive oil spray
Preheat the oven at 350 degrees and clean the kale! I use a homemade mixture but you can buy a lot of great vegetable cleaners as well. Once your kale is clean, dry it off and tear with your hands into little bunches and place on a sprayed baking sheet. You don't want any of the stem and drying the kale is very important, if you have a salad spinner that works great too!
Once the kale is clean and in pieces on the baking sheet you are ready to spray. Most if not all kale recipes will give varying instructions on how to coat the kale in olive oil, which I did the first time I made them and they were soggy and terrible. I like to coat the kale with an even light spray of olive oil instead. Once the kale is coated, add the salt, garlic salt and pepper varying on how much of these things you like! Sometimes I throw a little crushed red pepper on some of them for a little extra spice.
Bake in the oven for 7-10 minutes, the time has been a little different almost every time I cook them so just watch carefully within this time frame. When the kale is golden brown just around the edges it is done! When you remove the kale it really helps to let it cool for about 3 minutes and then you can put it in a big bowl and eat it like popcorn! Enjoy!
