Creamy Avocado Hummus

MMMM this recipe was quick, easy and delicious. My temptation in life has never really been sweets, especially the last few years since I can't have gluten. However, snacking is always tricky because it's good for your metabolism to eat small portions throughout the day, but it's hard to snack right. 

I love hummus and eat it all of the time, I try to use veggies to dip with and let myself have some tortilla chips mixed in. I am also a huge guac fan, all day everyday, so this recipe obviously peaked my interest.



  • 1 _ can chick peas (15 oz) well drained
  • 2_ medium ripe avocados, cored and peeled
  • 3_ tbsp olive oil, more for serving if desired
  • 1 1/2_ tbsp tahini
  • 3_ tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1_ garlic clove, peeled
  • 1/8_ tsp cumin
  • 2_ tbsp finely chopped fresh cilantro 
  • Red pepper flakes for topping
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper 

The Ninja is best wedding gift that Jesse and I received, comes with a blender, food processor and two to go individual smoothie cups. It gets used daily at least once I highly recommend it.


Pulse chick peas, olive oil, tahini, lime juice and garlic in a food processor until smooth, about two minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste, add cumin, cilantro and avocados and pulse mixture until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes longer. 

Serve topped with more olive oil if desired and sprinkle with cliantro and red pepper flakes. Serve with pita chips, tortilla chips, or eat with veggies! I was making just this for me so I put it immediately in a gladware container to keep it fresh. I will say that like guac the top will start to brown so if you aren't making for a group or party consider cutting the recipe in half.
